vitamins

I think I have found something that I can take. I found them at Trader Joe's and they are called 'Drop'n drink vitamins'...yeahhh. It is just one small tablet that you disolve in your drink and is totally flavorless and has nothing mixed in that is 'scd illegal'.

weekends are NOT easy

it seems that there is always at least one eating occasion each weekend...and this one was no different. On Friday evening we went out with my brother and SIL and her brother and SIL to a Portuguese hall with wonderful food and great music...we took the kids and they had a blast. The hard part is that it seems like every Portuguese meal has to include either potatoes or rice, or at times a combination of the two. What I did was have a good amount of the salad that came before the meal and then went ahead and ate my broiled fish and just left the potatotes that came with it on the plate...hmmm...who knew you could do that? LOL.

Then yesterday at my cousin's house where we got together for her son's birthday...again I had a nice piece of meat with a huge salad. I also nibbled on cheese with some wine...it was great and no one seemed to notice that I was eating 'differently' at either occasion. So...it IS hard...especially with all those wonderful foods tempting you...but it is doable!

lactose intolerant

lactose intolerance (article)

Found this article interesting. It seems to be agreeing with what the SCD people are saying about the disacharides. It was also interesting for me to see how lactose intolerance is divided by the different races. My kids come from Asian and African backgrounds and it's funny that neither one of them likes milk. Maybe their little bodies are telling them something. I know with Christian when he was still taking a bottle and drank lots of milk at one point his poop got all white and we had to back out from the milk. Hmmmm. We all do fine with butter, hard cheeses and yoghurts though...so at least we don't have a reaction to casein.

Yesterday

I had to post about yesterday's walk from a health perspective. First of all I planned well and took along some of my zucchini muffins and some bottled water for snacking...which came in handy as we passed a Dunkin Donuts at the T station and then again some food vendors at the Common in Boston...Roy stopped at both and bought stuff for himself and the kids...yet I was fine...yipppeee. Big break here folks.

The not so good part was that I was having some breathing issues...not so much during the walk itself since it was at a pretty comfortable pace...but beforehand and afterwards trying to catch up to Roy and the gang as they tried to rush back and forth due to the rain. It felt a lot like an anxiety attack...but actually knowing what I know now...I'm convinced that this is Magnesium related also. It's that feeling that I can't take a full breath. So I'm back on full doses of Magnesium...however now my bowels have done a 180...argghhh.
